OCR: Using the Search Facility Searches for individual photographs can be done in a number of ways. Click on the first field in the Description section and enter a single word (only single words can be entered) such as "CHURCH". Click on the second field and enter another word such as "FIELD". Using the "World" search button will now find all photographs that contain either "church" or "field" or both in their description. Using the "Magnifying Glass" search button will only find photographs that include both "church" and "field". So a search can be refined by starting with the "World" search button and then adding further criteria in the other parts of the search screen and using the "Magnifying Glass" search button. Entering part of a word will find all the matching full words. For example "CHURCH" will inchides "churches" and "FIELD" will inchide "Macclesfield". To eliminate selections that just contain "field" put the full "MACCLESFIELD" in the search criteria. The photographs can also be searched for by the National Grid Reference (NGR) of the area in question. This has a facility for a six figure reference to be entered such as "SJ 917 737", this gives a location to within 100 metres. In this case St Michael's Church, Macclesfield. More useful is using a Wild Card in the National Grid Reference search, such as "SJ 91* 73*" this will find all photographs located in a 1 Km square. In this case most of Macclesfield town centre. Used in combination with a description search word of "CHURCH" and the "Magnifying Glass" search button this would find all photographs of churches in Macclesfield town centre. Photographs attributable to a particular Photographic Society or Photographer can be found be found using the drop down selections. These also work in combination with any other search criteria entered. Printing Photographs Photo graphs can be printed using the print button on the large image screen. You can select from any of the printers attached to your computer. The print, to A4 size, will use the default settings of your chosen printer. The default settings on your printer for paper type, colour or black and white, can be set using the Windows Control Panel/Printers/Properties.
